Newbies first post - CR170 Remap query

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm the proud owner of a Race Blue vRS CR170 I bought February this year. It has been a great car to own & I've just clocked up 6K so decided I would get it remapped.

Let me explain a bit of history first before I go any further; I used to own a Seat Altea TDi 140 which I had remapped & the difference in both performance levels and economy were amazing. I loved the engine, the car NEVER let me down in the 4 years of owning it so I wanted to stick with the VW group but wanted something with a bigger boot & was good value for money. Well the vRS was both & far exceeded my expectations so I was/am really chuffed to be a vRS owner.

Back to my original sentence - I approached the local garage today that remapped my old Altea & they first of all said that after the remap it would be good for 200hp/400nm but then dashed my hopes by saying there was no way to do it without removing a bracket/seal which would invalidate my warranty?

Firstly, how have others had their vRS remapped without invalidating the warranty?

Secondly, are these standard remap performance figures?

I haven't a clue what the garage is on about with removing a seal..... I have just had my car remapped and no garage mechanic touched my car! best to read here and read the FAQ's about warranty! And thoroughly recommended too .

There is currently no way to remap a CR170 car from 2010 without removing the ECU, regardless of where you go.

Sorry to disappoint!
