Door mirror repeater light

Featured Replies

A passing prat has broken the plastic cover of the repeater light on the drivers door mirror of my 08 Octavia. I'd be grateful for advice on:

1) Can I replace the cover without replacing the whole light unit? I'm fearful that it is a sealed unit.

2) Is it a relatively easy job for a competent DIYer?

3) Anyone know what these things cost?

I'm really naffed off about this!

Thanks in advance.

Michael

I broke mine on my old Octy, the light unit is a complete assembly but it is dead easy to replace. I think the part cost me about £20 from the main dealer, and I swapped the bust one for a new one in about 5 mins. The tricky bit in the whole operation is removing the mirror glass without breaking it.

1) Remove mirror glass.

2) you should now see some clips holding the mirror cover in place, release the clips and remove mirror shell.

3) you should now see 2 (or 3?) screws holding the broken light unit in place. Remove these and disconnect wiring.

4) refiting is the reverse process.
