Wood trim

Featured Replies

Can someone please help me... i'm trying to get some more info on the wood trim option (which i have already ordered).

First of all - is it real wood?!

Also - does it also run along the rear doors, or is it just in the front of the cabin?

Cheers!

Easy one. It's not real wood (although most people looking at it think it is) and its on the rear door trims as well. Looks good (IMO) and I've ordered it again.

Thanks Mark. If anyone asks me, i'll say it's real! Just highly polished... ;o)

The wood trim is the quality of wood trim found in "luxury" cars. It looks great. I ordered mine against my wife's wishes, since she felt it would make the car look old fashioned. We have always had more expensive brands and she also thought "OK you want a Skoda, fine but don't try to make it into something it's not"

When the car arrived the dealer and my wife were surprised. It definitly creates a feeling of luxery. It is just the right amount of wood, in just the right places. That being said my car is an elegance with leather/al. seats I don't think it would do the same with other versions. In my car it was the finishing touch!

PS Wifey now feels she is driving in a luxery car (if you forget other snobby people).

Cheers for the pics Argee! I'm glad the trim is continued along the rear doors. I must say, it looks awesome with the Rosso paint job and ivory-coloured interior.

The first time i saw the wood trim i thought it was horrible and tacky. But then it gradually grew on me, until i ended up ordering it!

My interior will be the SE spec, so i get black Alcantara seats (leather/suede combo). I don't think it'd work with cloth seats, the two just wouldn't go. Does anyone have any pics of the black Alcantara interior with the wood trim?! I'm guessing it's a long-shot, so failing that - how about a straight forward black leather (ie. "elegance") interior with wooden trim? Would love to see some more pics.

I can't wait to see my finished car - i think the combination of crisp white paint, tinted windows, black interior & wooden trim is going to look awesome! Then again, it could end up as an epic fail that i'll end up regretting for the next 3 years...

I think this isn't right, actually. The construction of the trim is an ABS (plastic) substrate, with wood veneer, and clear (polyurethane?) lacquer, so the wood you see is actually wood. The finish is very good, so ironically, it looks synthetic. If you think veneer constitues "real" wood, then yes, it's real.

Personally, I think that for the cost of the option, the wood makes a huge contribution to the impact of the car.

If its real wood then basically no trim would look the same. Am I right? Anyone checked it already?

From the Elegance section of the Superb brochure available on the main Skoda (not SUK) website:

The Elegance version will satisfy the highest expectations. It comes with the

Felicity interior in black or Ivory as standard. The Ivory option is available with light

or dark fl oor panelling including removable woven carpets. The dashboard, in

black-black or black-Ivory colour combinations, and doors, in black or Ivory, are

lined with the Noblesse décor (imitation wood). The interior features a range of

decorative high-polish black décor elements as well as many chrome components.

By special request, the Elegance version may be ordered with the Emory (Alcantara)

or Glamour (leather) interior trim and Mirage décor (imitation metal). The front

seats are specially shaped to provide maximum comfort.

If skoda say it's imitation wood then that's good enough for me.

My car has the black leather/alcantara combination together with the wood trim . Together with the amethyst color it looks great. Someone asked for a pic of the black interior with wood trim.

Here is a link to some pictures. I think in reality thr interior looks even better since the black in the pictures somehow looks a little silvery

The Superb's wood trim looks best with an ivory interior IMO. I got black by mistake (not mine - long story) and was very disappointed at first, but you get used to it. The finish reminds me of Mercedes interior wood trim - expensive appearance but strangely fake looking. There's not too much wood and it avoids that retro Rover look. The car, my first Skoda, is great though and they got the Rosso exterior right at least. I would advise ordering a dimming rear view mirror. It's worth the extra £55 not to be constantly dazzled (from behind, not by the reflection from the glossy wood trim)

Got to say that I have an opposite view. IMHO the black and the wood give the best effect of luxury. It difinitely does not look fake looking because it is with black instead of beige.

I think black / brown-wood color/ beige becomes too much

It's nice we all think differently!

IMHO the wood trim with the black leather makes for a very expensive looking option. The interior looks as if it could be from a Merc. The wood trim also warms up the interior a bit. Metal trim looks and feels cold.

I like the door cards, but not the dash strip, I've seen a Passat with a Maple effect one fitted and that looks really nice, won't go with beige leather though, I liked the metal effect ones my old Sup had, a bluey grey one would look nice also imo.

Ray, how tall are you, and how does the sunroof impact the inside of the car for headroom? tia.

I'm 6 feet tall. The roof has no impact on me, or my 6'4" friend. HTH :)

It's all been said but I'll just add that everyone who's been in my car really rates the "wood" trim (black leather interior), be they 20 or 80 years old.

I definitely feel reassured, thanks guys... especially RedDog for posting a pic of black interior + wood trim (even if he's probably a dirty F*rest fan...)!!

I know it'll look slightly different in my SE spec as the central section of the seats are suede, but i still think it'll work. Can't wait now!
