I have a Fabia Greenline 1.4 TDI DPF (Pump Deuse)

I was trying to find out what Euro Compliance this car is. I am assuming IV as it Has a DPF

Is there an easy way of telling ? I tried the registration document but that doesnt tell you. I ask because I fancy trying some Millers Ecomax just as an experiment to see if its any good or just a load of nonsense. What I am afraid of is damaging the DPF if the Ecomax produces some kind of residue or ash build up. The stats for Millers say its suitable for euro IV vehicles hence my question.

Does anyone know ?

I did do some research in to what millers is. Basically its a Cetane Booster which raises the Cetane by around 4 which makes the fuel more like BP Ultimate etc.

Millers is a Cetane Booster (n.b. up to 4 - not the same as by 4), lubricant and most important a cleaner/detergent. Cheap alternative to using premium fuels.

Its chief advantages are cleaning injectors (that where any mpg improvement claims come from) and smoother idling due to higher cetane rating (due to slower burn). Don't expect mpg improvements unless you've got dirty clogged injectors.

It is good stuff, but don't think its suitable for DPF (Euro V) vehicles. IIRC Somewhere on this forum, there are posts claiming to list the main ingredient(s) of Millers which invariably are cheap to buy in different forms. The latest bottle design btw is awful and guaranteed to leave your hands and the bottle covered in the stuff. That's why I stopped using it.

I wonder whether there was any definite conclusion by those advocating use of 2-stroke oil (not DPF friendly I suspect)

Thanks Xman. I think I will steer clear of it until the bottle actually states 'safe for dpf'. I assume the posh higher cetane forecourt stuff is safe. I will give that a try just to see if it makes any difference whatsoever.

I still have my brochure. It covers the whole range not just the Greenline if its the same you have ? Where in the brochure is it ?

Maybe Millers will rebrand and change the text to 'euro V'

The Fabia Greenline introduced the DPF on the 1.4 PD. This probably makes it Euro V even if its not declared. You need to avoid ash in the DPF, they are enough problem anyway. Having said that, for the volume of ECOMAX added, I cant see a significant amount of ash being produced.

In that case I wont use Millers. If it was safe for DPF I would expect them to state it rather than 'for Euro IV cars'

I contacted Miller oils Technical Services Manager, with regards to using Diesel Power Ecomax on Skoda Euro V Compliant diesel engines, with DPF and this is the reply I Received:-

Good Morning Brian, Diesel Power Ecomax is compatible with your Skoda and all cars with DPF

That does sound promising. Thing is, DPF is a seriously expensive gizmo to replace. I may just wait until Millers confirm its safe by changing the labelling. All new diesels are DPF so if it is ok then they will soon state it on the product. I just need to be certain before I commit to using this sort of thing regularly. I will probably find Millers is even better at keeping the DPF clear than without. I just dont want to be the guinea pig.

Seems odd they dont say DPF on the label. Most people wouldnt know what the heck Euro IV or V actually means
