does 15" winter tyres fit on Superb 2007?

Featured Replies

Hello SS lovers,

I have a question, my father has some new winter tyes but they quite small: 185/65/15. But I have to drive slow in the winter.

They were from a mercedes W201 190D.

Does they fit on a Superb? I think they are also 5x112.

But the question is, are the brake disks to big for 15" wheels?

I've seen 15" on a passat and a audi B5 from 2000...

Now I have the Solid elegance 225/45/17 wheels on my superbeee.

Has annyone tried this?

Thanks,

I did see a taxi/superb once with what looked to be 15's on it.

Im not sure if the bore on the Merc wheels is the same as the Supurb. I suspect not without some kind of adapter.

No merc use a larger centre bore to VAG's 57.1mm, you may be able to get spigot rings to reduce to bore.

As for 15" rims? not 100% sure but there looks like plenty of room between the calliper and a 16" OE wheel (just enough room to get a wheel cleaning brush in)

It will look silly and may affect fuel consumption, Passat B5.5 had 15's on it, hth.

Yeh, the Supurb I did see with small wheels on did look a bit odd. Also thinking about it the offset may be completley different for the wheels. Supurb standard offset is 37, although im running 45 without any issues.

185/65R15 is the perfect size to get onto the Superb, I looked into this too. It gives the correct speedo reading within 1/3% of the original (225/45R17 size in my case).

Lots of Audi A6s also have 15" wheels for winter tyres, so there will be no issues for the Superb. Biggest discs the Superb has are 312 mm (on V6 models) which is under 13", so 15" no problems.

You need to leave room for the caliper.

On a Mk1 Octavia, the 15" oem steel wheels will fit over 288 mm discs but not the 312 mm discs because of the calipers.

And the Superb facelift with 1.9TDI 105bhp has 288mm or 312mm???

288mm.

Only the 2.8, 2.5 and 2.0 have 312mm.

hello everyone,

I replaced now the solids with the 15inch mercedes wheels. And there was no problem.

But I have to say that there is not much place between brake caliber and wheels (3 or 4 mm).

The weels are the same as on this pictures.

How can i upload my picture in Briskoda? So you can see the result.

bye

If the original size is 225/45R17 then the nearest 15" tyres would be 195/65R15.
