fault P0402 EGR flow excessive

Featured Replies

been having a fault with the timing on the fabia (52 plate & 26k miles) and the diagnostic reported fault P0402 EGR flow excessive, and been advised I need a new EGR unit.

is this right and does anyone know whether this will be expensive to put right??

thanks

or just do away with it?

been advised it is required?

latest advice I've been given is that the EGR valve can be removed and cleaned as it is likely to have 'gunk' in it and by doing this it will remove the fault on the diagnostics and get rid of the yellow engine symbol from lighting up on the dashboard....will report back when I have done this....hopefully this will be the solution..

cleaned the EGR valve and refitted, diagnostic all clear..so the solution in my mind to code P0402 is clean the EGR valve, cheaper than buying a new one..
