Swamp Things "bonnet creaking" - FIXED!

Featured Replies

Guys, just wanted to post on here about my 2005 plate Fabia VRS - aka "Swamp Thing" (because it smells damp inside due to rear door leaks - soon to be fixed with the old door carrier repair instructions). I test drove the car before buying (from another family member) and noted "creaking" from what appeared to be the bottom corners of the windscreen as I drove and cornered. The previous owner was obviously not as sensitive as me as he said he never noticed!

Anyway, prior to buying and after some searching on here, I found a post that suggested it could be the bonnet rubber "spacers" up near the bonnet hinges. This made sense to me, so rather than pass on an otherwise good deal, I opted to buy the car. Suffice to say, one tiny dab of grease on each of the spacers solved the creaking. While under the bonnet I also stopped the bonnet stay from rattling, just to be sure ;-)

So, just wanted to say thanks to a great forum for posting some amazingly useful stuff !!

Cheers guys!
