Widemouth? Removing number plate surround?

Featured Replies

Just wondering does the number plate holder thing easily be removed to create the sort of wide mouth effect?

It's not as straightforward as just taking of the numberplate plinth - here's a picture of a naked bumper showing you what's underneath so you can judge whether you want to tackle the surgery required.

thats an expensive way about - I would imagine cut it with a junior hacksaw then use a dremel with a circular sander on the end make it pretty straight forward...if you **** it up a body shop should be able to sort it you for less than a new bumper...

Cut leaving pleanty of plastic (about 1cm) to sand back then just take your time........

Cheers for the advice

I wouldn't want it to end up looking like the 'big mouth' mod attempted a while back on a non vRS - can't find the thread though, but it was a rather amusing read

Seriously, it is more to do with potential future plans for the car - not everyone would want to buy a 'big-mouth' SE, so I'd want to be able to return it to standard...
