Well, finally picked it up this morning. One very clean Candy white TD140 Elegance Yeti. What a lovely feeling.

Handover was smooth (though only 30 miles worth of Diesel in it) and despite 4 years of flappy paddling smarts/Alfas I managed not to stall as I left Hobins or on my way to work. My miniscule car park space was easily navigated using the excellent parking radar, very impressive.

The short drive to work enabled me to dispatch an Audi determined to go straight on at a traffic light when his lane was only for turning left, I just new he was going to try it and the really very surprising 2nd gear shove of the Yeti left him floundering. Always seems to be an Audi these days, say what you like about JC but he’s right on that point.

The Yeti seemed to shrink around me, felt far smaller to drive than it looks from the outside. Ride is exceptional as far as I am concerned but then I have been scuttling around in the wife’s smart for 5 months, a two stroke pogo stick has a better ride!

Refinement from the diesel engine is also top notch, Gary (The salesman) mentioned he had had 5 diesels in so far this week with misfueling incidents – one woman twice!

I can see why. This is my first diesel but it does seem to suit my driving style, I am sure I will get along with compression ignition just fine.

29mpg on the MaxiDot so far that’s 1mpg better than the fortwo averages in my hands (I kid you not!) a whopping 10 miles on the odo by the time I got to work so a bit of scope for things to bed in.

Off to Llanberis this afternoon with 3 lucky passengers, real baptism of fire for the Yeti, can’t wait.

What perfect timing for your trip!!! Much better than the Lupo option! Enjoy the beast.

The terrain around Llanberis is perfect Yeti country, pics will certainly follow - though it does seem we are all going to get a tad wet. Would rather have gone in the smart than the Lupo, I think it's on its last legs poor thing and the boot makes the smarts look capacious!

I am slightly the otgher way as I cant believe how big it is inside as im not a small person but ive loads of headroom and with the sunroof and the gobi it seems huge inside !!, yet when you see the car on its own it looks small, but next to other cars and on the road it actually looks quite big.

Weirdness. I actually got up to 54mpg at one point on the maxidot lol which is actually better than my new fiesta was doing lol. Its averging out now about 48mpg and hoping that will improve a bit when the engine has run in.

As for Audis I had 2 mercedes drivers since I got the Yeti, (with suits on) drive right up my back and then make the most unbelievably stupid impatient overtaking onto oncoming traffic manuevers I have ever seen !!

No I agree, this is easily the biggest car I have had and the space is amazing inside. First thing the Fuhrer did as we were being shown round was jack the passenger seat up to its highest setting, boy was she happy (vertically challenged). The poor salesman then had to conduct a tour of the controls from a very awkward passenger position as he was much taller

Sad I know, but just nipped out from the Orifice to see how 'Snowy' is doing in his 'works' lair. Seems to dwarf the Cit C4 and Renault scenic that are either side.
