Featured Replies

hi, i have a skoda octavia 2005 mk2 with factory mfd2 sat nav i just bought a rns510 mfd3 sat nav unit, but i would like to know how to run an ipod for this new head unit

is there a geniune part number for a lead i can get out of the dealer,

cheers in advance

If you want full iPod control you'll need to fit the MDI interface. About £160ish, from eBay.

Or you could plumb in an auxiliary connection, which would play the iPod through the stereo, but wouldn't charge it or allow you control of it from the MFD3. Cheaper solution though.

Any retailer that sells stereo equipment or mp3 players, most car accessory outlets, large office supply stores.

All you need is a 3.5mm - 3.5mm stereo cable. If you are like most people and have had several PC's over the years you probably have a suitable cable lying in a draw somewhere anyway.

Ahh, well not quite! Aux sockets were fitted later than an MY05 - perhaps being introduced to MY07 vehicles? I'd have to check, but certainly around that time.

So the OP would need to wire in the socket first, before being able to use a 3.5mm jack-to-jack cable

This has been done and there might even be a few guides around. Octavia-vrs.com might have some info.

Cheers,

Steve
