Fabia Estate 2000 mile / 10 week review

Featured Replies

Well have had my Fabia now for just under 3 months and its just clicked over 2,000 miles so I thought I`d pop a review up for it.

Good points;-

Very comfortbale long distance cruiser

Much quicker than I expected

Comfortable ride (even with the Eibach Springs)

Lots of kit as standard

Can carry a lot more and lot bigger items than expected

Nice colour

Maxi-dot is very easy to read

Cruise control is excellent

Massive 5th gear range (30mph to v-max!)

Bad points;-

MPG not as good as expected (only about 36mpg average since new - a long way off the book 50 or so!)

Suspension rolls a bit if you corner a bit quicker than normal

Climate control only seems to blow out cold unless its below 8C

Things that could possibly improve the car;-

6 Speed box

"Sportier" seats - you can slide on the standard ones a bit at times!

Having lived with this car for a while now I can`t actually see where the Seat Ibiza equivalent justifies its £2000 premium over the Skoda, and I have found that even though its only listed as 105bhp it is more than rapid enough to seriously annoy (ie outrun!) the local Saxo / Mini Cooper brigade and is capable of keeping up with Fiesta STs without too much difficulty.

If ever I get enother car I would get another one without any hestation and have recommended it to a few freinds who are thinking about new cars - and my mum!

Nice review mate.

That explains the economy :giggle:

Good review  it echoes my review (albeit for the DSG)

What kind of fuel do you use?

Glad you are pleased with it. Good review.

Belive it or not I switched over to Shell Unleaded (the 95 RON stuff not the Super Unleaded) and it seems to have actually made the car a bit more punchy. On the third tankful so far so I assume the fuel system has "learnt" the new fuel type.

I have only driven it like a hoodlum a couple of times mostly it only does short runs back and forth which is probably why its economy isnt great (Trip comp got up to 56mpg on the Manchester run) on average since I have owned the car but given the punch it seems to have for such a small engined car I`m not surprised it doesnt quite match the (slightly unrealistic) figures quoted by Skoda. Think you would have to drive like a saint to match them so dont think the average MPG is too bad. Not as good as I would have expected but the car is really still too new to be fully run in and I wouldnt expect it to give its best until its done at least 8-10,000 miles and had its first major service.
