1.6CR Superb and Skoda UK Website

Featured Replies

Find it frustrating that despite the 1.6CR engine being listed in the Superb printed brochure, and on many other sites like What Car and Parkers, it is still not on the Skoda uk Website as an option, or on the configurator. As a fairly new follower of the SUK website is this kiind of delay an ineptness common? :wonder:

All too common sadly. The configurator seems to be based on some generic euro spec and if you read this forum you'll see that each country has a different spec so only treat the configurator as a rough guide.

Mark.

Dont forget that sometimes the configurator itself can disappear for weeks on end - very frustrating if you want to spec up a car.

My mate has an Octy 1.6, and he reckons it's simply not very good, underpowered.

I drove a 1.6 CR Octy a few months back while my RS was in for a service and I didn't think it was that bad at all..Its no RS but it wasn't a complete dog either

If the new superb is going to be fitted with the new 1.6 diesel, and from what i've seen from the threads on here, it seems that its underpowered, then that will make the superb seem very slow...think i'll get the wife to consider keeping the 1.9 tdi greenline, and see what kind of money the car will be worth after the 3yrs is up onj the motability side of things. So far we have been extremely impressed with the ecconomy side, and i did get the opportunity to open her up on the motorway a little while ago, and it felt very stable doing the ton ...tho the grunt isnt there, it does keep creeping forwards, and the suspension is more than capable and very firm and reasuring.

Plus the car sits in between the " S " and the "SE " and with what it comes kitted out, its a pretty good car in my opinion. But one thing my wife and i agree on, is the superb that languishes on our driveway atm awaiting funds to get it back on the road, is that it is more comfortable on long journeys, and i'm not too keen on the white led lights at night on the newer model, much prefer the red ambience of our other model, and most of all the TORQUE !! god i do miss it

Its got to be the best looking static superb tdi 140 in the south coast !! doh

I agree it is simply not good enough to release a new engine and then not to publicise it on a manufacturers website, especially when the same 1.6Tdi in the Superb is widely advertised elsewhere.

A colleague has a Octy 1.6Tdi DSG which I plan to test drive once it has covered a few thousand miles. The 7 speed DSG may be a better bet than the 5 speed manual.

As for the VFM question, I looked at a Greenline but decided I could get a better spec using a 'S' 1.9Tdi. For approx. 17.5k my Superb was specced as follows:-

Metallic paint

Bolero

Mats

Cruise control

Three spoke leather rimmed wheel

Maxidot

Rear side sunblinds

With the remap, the car is now sufficiently powerful for everyday driving and yet still gives over 700 miles per tank of fuel if driven carefully.
