Door waterproof membranes

Featured Replies

Had the drivers door central locking playing up so I had the door card off yesterday to see if the wiring plug was corroded.

No sign of water ingress (suprisingly) so I cleaned and lubricated the connections and mechanisms, all seems fine now but it appears the previous owner had a look behind the membrane and instead of carefully peeling it back it looks like he attacked it with an axe rendering the membrane useless!

Also botched repaired his axe work with black insulation tape . So I need to replace both front door membranes but was wondering whether there is an alternative to the factory fitted fragile type.

Something that improves sound quality from the front speakers would be good and that is easier to remove and reuse if required.

Does anyone know if such a product exists?

use some self adhesive sound proofing to seal up all the apertures, improves road noise and your stereo at the same time!!!

When you say "seal up all the apertures" I assume you mean across the face of the door where the existing membrane is?

The replacement ones are usually more than ok, they arent fragile unless they are cut up..lol

Having said that I did have to get creative the other day

How many did you get for £12?

Yeah it was a wrap the regulator came in. We didnt have any of the propper ones in stock so I did that to keep it dry overnight whilst we ordered one.

And I did water test it as its goes, maybe not long tem but it did channel the water out the bottom of the door, certianly a lot better then the original which had been slashed to bits..lol.
