Scouts arrived

I have posted this link of what should be my new car, however not sure if it has worked or not!

Anyway what a journey this has turned into after ordering my car back in May/June. Like everyone on here, I was very excited at what was pure indulgence on my part in as much as I ordered nearly every optional extra in the book after years of having basic company cars. After ordering the car I made a couple of changes and opted for my first non black car in years and went through the torment of will the colour be ok ?, when will it arrive?, etc, etc.

Finally the day came after months and months of not knowing when that would be. To my surprise the first few days never went well as I wasnt sure about the roof rails, colour and not going for a VRS. You name it I thought it ! My wife laughed and reckoned I was having some sort of post traumatic stress episode due to the time scales and my determination to make all the right choices in my first brand new car purchase. I did laugh but thinking about it, she may have had a point as I dont quite know what I thought I was going to do when I saw the car. The obvious thing like getting the key and driving off hadn't entered my head I think I wanted champagne, speeches and a blessing from the local bhuddist monk !

Now that I have recovered from my episode I really love every aspect of the car particularly driving to work with the same contented feeling other Skoda owners post here.

So now that I'm happy, guess what? My wife gets a new job and a new company car and I'm now demoted to the people carrier which is a necessity for our expanding family with three car seats required in the back.

The spec is as follows.

CR Diesel

Extras

Leather seats

Blue tooth phone / steering wheel functions/ Maxi Dot

Xenon headlamps

Heated seats

Curtain airbags

Spare wheel

Silver roof rails

Alloy wheel upgrade (Very NICE!)

I understend you completly. I also thought about everything over and over again, but when it came, and up to today (1y almost) I am perfectly happy with everything

Nice one. I've only had one new car before, but it was also the one I enjoyed most. It's nice to know it's not been abused by someone else beforehand

Very nice - I love that colour combination too.

Don't think I've seen a Scout that colour before, or those wheels-very, very tidy! Nice one!

Very nice! I've been looking at getting a Scout for a while and the Rosso Red was one of the colours that I was thinking about. Looks really good with the Scout bumpers and the 'polished' alloys.

Very nice indeed in that colour. There's a guy at work with a new Superb in the same colour and it's quite a deep lustrous colour up close.

I probably would have had that colour too if I'd ordered one from new, but after seeing - quite by chance - a 10 plate 1.8TSI Scout in Anthracite for sale 2 miles from my home, with only 6K on the clock, I made a impulse buy.

Amazing too that I'd only ever seen 1 other scout on the road, then leaving work yesterday I see up ahead another Anthracite Scout, pre-facelift.

Great car though and I am loving it.

Wow - very nice. I've never especially liked Rosso Brunello on the Octavia, but it looks the absolute business on the Scout with the dark wheels. A great combination.

I had problems with getting the heated seats AND leather - no problems for you though?

I like the fact you HAD to get the car on the grass! I've had frustratingly few opportunities to get my Scout off-road, but was delighted when my work car park was closed and now I get to demo my 4WD system on on the company's garden!

Cheers,

Les.

Yes nust be a strange thing that happens when you buy a 4x4 my friends were taking the **** when they saw the pics, I was going to go up a dirt track and get a stunning backdrop but a quick trek over the front garden ticked that box as didnt want her dirty!

Yes re heated seats I spoke to dealer at lenght after your post and I was concerned it wasnt going to happen for me either, apparently it is to do with how dealer orders car. They have to be listed as a paid option seperately and cost gets deducted thereafter. Due to so many mistakes Skoda have changed the system now.

Yes delighted with colour after a number of doubting Thomas's on here when I was seeking advice originally just goes to show you cant judge a car until you see it in the flesh.

Glad you sorted to the heated seats problem (its still a background niggle for me, and its not even winter yet).

Think the car is eye catching - you don't see many Scouts around, and yours will really attract attention I think - of the right kind. I've had lots of double-takes with mine, which I enjoyed.

Also I really rate the CR diesel - and not many people seem to know about the upgrade, because most websites still quote the PD values. To get 50mpg for a 4WD estate is amazing I think.,

That's a gorgeous looking car!

I was tempted by that colour after seeing it on a standard estate, but wasn't sure if it would look good on a Scout - but this shows that it does!

Still, I went for Cappuccino as it looks pretty good, and being the colour of mud means I don't have to wash it all the time :)

Thanks for that never found any other pictures in that colour and was bit worried as I thought long and hard about it. Every dealer I spoke to told me it would be better in black or grey but something told me it would just work with the bumpers and I think it does.

I took it into one of the offending dealers who had screwed up his face and said why would you want a PINK car? It felt great as he was eating his words telling me he is going to order there next demo scout in that colour job done I would say!

Love the colour and the rails, my choice to, great spec you must be beaming.

Welcome to the club :)

Great looking car. Maybe one of the best looking scouts I have ever seen.

In Norway we can´t choose this color. I went for the Cappucino Beige on my Scout(or in truth: My wife told me that this was the color we were getting)...

Very nice car emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Exceeding expectations, even the colour too. Looks good.

Got mine last week too, in Silver. Does more stuff than I even realised, radio is brilliant. 300 miles out of half a tank of diesel, loving that too.

Only thing I’m disappointed about are the lights which is my fault really as is $2250 extra for Xenon's here so I didn't spec them :( The halogens are probably okay but I fitted Osram nightbreakers anyway (which didn't seem to make any differance) but still the left and right spread on low beam isn't bright enough for twisty back roads at 100kph. My last car had Xenon's and they were awesome, lucky you.

Thanks mate, would'nt beat yourself up about Xenon's. There good but to be honest there not as good as I expected for the very reason you have highlighted, ie the beam doent seem high enough on dipped and cuts out half way up road signs etc. I have driven plenty of cars with xenon's and think there great, however not so startling on the performance side on Scout. If I never had them I would be like youwishing I did, but take it from someone you does , they wont be a deal breaker for me next time.

I think you will find all OEM HIDs cut off the same way. It's the regulations, so that you don't blind other drivers.

Yep agreed for height but the left right spread outside the vehicles straight ahead position with the halogens is disappointing so if it's the same lens just with more intensity with the xenon bulb I can see why VWconvert is a bit disappointed too. High beam is quite good but pretty much goes straight ahead too. I'm having a go changing mine using the white adjusters.

Another to agree, they are pants on dip. I am very disapointed, We had Xenons on the Mk 1 Octy, The old Superb & on the Nissan & allll were excellent, these just arent.

How easy is it to set them above the legal minimum

If the adjusters are the same as on the halogen lights there are 3. The one closest to centreline of the car is the height adjustment for the main beam light which only has up and down adjustment, would still be a halogen bulb on xenon cars so same i'd imagine.

The other two around the back of the dipped beam bulb are; top one is for left right but on mine also seemed to move the beam up or down at the same time so I had to readjust the height with the other lower back adjuster afterwards.

So if you just want a height change on the dipped beam it's the lower of the back adjusters. I used a big hex key as the phillips slot inside is plastic and i think it would strip after a while.

There must be some one on here who knows if it can be done, however going to ask my local MOT testing station this question, tommorrow
