Samco/ Forge boost hoses

Featured Replies

I have been looking at the above 2 kits and will be making a purchase in the new year. I can see that the forge kit has 3 hoses and Samco has 4? Where does the extra hose go, as I cannot see where it would fit in the system?

Any ideas?:wonder:

Yep, the top hose in the picture without any machined spigots fits between the throttle body and the OEM plastic boost pipe, the one on the right fits between the OEM plastic pipe and the intercooler, these are the cold side hoses. The other 2 are fitted on the hot side.

Have you thought about the SFS hoses as these do away with the OEM plastic boost pipe and the metal pipe on the hot side. This means you only have 2 complete hoses, one for the hot side and one for the cold side, this means there are less joints, therefore less chance of a leak.

I have the SFS hoses fitted to mine:

Thanks Bogwoppitemoticon-0148-yes.gif I had looked at these but I already have a neuspeed front intercooler pipe and can get the Samco/forge hoses about £130 cheaper than the SFS hoses. The extra hose in the Samco kit must go from the turbo to the metal pipe. I think I will opt for the Samco kit, as it replaces all the hoses.

You could try

He does top quality hoses and not as expensive as Samco, where you are paying for the name.

I just checked the web site and nothing is listed for the Skoda, but I thik if you contact Paul he would sort something out for you. Maybe you could even oganise a group buy???

He was very helpful for me, and made up a special hose for me

I had an early birthday present from my fiancé in the form of the Samco boost hoses kit. I was well impressed when she said she would buy me these:rofl:

I have fitted them and could immediately feel the extra surge in power. With the OE hoses when ever I put my foot down the engine hesitated and for want of better words 'bogged down'. Then the engine would build up and go. Now there is no hesitation in the power delivery. It is very smooth and has improved everything from the low end, mid range and top end power. The engine is quieter when driving normally but put your foot down and it growls more. My MPG has increased by 2 and overall I am very happy with the kit.

The hose from the turbo is at less of an angle to improve the flow and is much less restrictive than the OE pipe. However it does mean that the metal pipe it attaches too cannot be attached to the side of the engine like normal. This does not cause any problems, as its held in place by the hoses either side, leaves plenty of clearance below the belts and does not catch on anything. The alloy joiners fit exactly and are tight unlike the OE ones, which move around from side to side and out wards causing a slight leak. They look good too and I am really pleased I have them now.

She paid only £151 from awesome for these hoses and thats £50 less than normal. If anyone is thinking of changing the hoses and thinks it may be a waste of time. Buy them and you will be impressed at the difference they make. My bum on seat dyno would say the engine feels like it has another 10/15bhp. It is that much of a difference the way the engine feels. Plus the kit comes with all the jubilee clips needed to fit. The only thing you will need to do it take the oil seals from off the OE hoses and allow 2 hours to fit on the drive.

Sounds like a plan...you got a part number? ...also...What is the diameter of the pipe?

Can any of this be done is stainless steel? Formed... with the turbo fitting and the lower intercooler fitting Mikalor clamped?

The part number for the kit is EN-HO-SAM-325-SPECIAL. I am not sure of the exact diameter of the hoses wihout measuring but they are wider and a lot more rigid that the OE hoses. Also they are straighter in shape to help improve the airflow. You could try metal pipes but you would still need the alloy couplers and a small section of silicone hose to attach. On my old FRS I had the Samco hoses then some Stainless pipes from germany fitted. I didnt feel any benefit of the stainless pipes other than they looked bling in the engine bayB) The silicone hoses are very rigid and more than up to the job.

[Cheers for that...S/S was a suggestion as the Samco hoses are a bit pricey. Though the S/S may be a cheaper option.

I thought they were pricey too until I fitted them and realized they were worth every penny my fiancé spent lol. They are normally about £200 but Awesome have an offer on with them. It might be worth approaching an exhaust fabricating company, as they may be able to bend and shape pipes to fit?

I have a couple of pipe bender's numbers - will see what they say cost wise.

Just noticed that you have the FSI - I have a Fabia VRS - not sure if the hoses will fit?

Cheers

In that case they wont but Samco do a hose kit for the Fabia as well as Forge. I found the hose couplers on the Fabia to be a bad design and lots of them lol! I think SFS has also done a kit for the Fabia but I could be wrong?

[Hi Octy,

Thanks again for your suggestions. I tried a crude clamping set up on three of the top end couplers ---I may be mistaken but there definitely seemed to be more urgency about the car - not sure if it was the the lower temps here in Scotland but the Honda Civic Type R owner certainly noticed the difference this morning! I think that there is potentially a good drop of oomph puffing out of the poorly designed couplers. The one to the bottom end of the turbo is a very good fit but the rest have play in them and useful grunt MUST be squirting through (as it were!)

Cheers again

Trying to perfect a clamping method - will let you know how it goes - I think if I can get a good seal, I can skip the pricey hoses until I can afford it.

Hello again Octy

You said -

The only thing you will need to do it take the oil seals from off the OE hoses and allow 2 hours to fit on the drive.

Presume that the 'oil seals' are the end pieces of the existing hoses? Do they pull off? Are they easy to refit?

Found a silicone pipe/angle s/s company http://www.performancesiliconehoses.com

Wanted to look into making up my own.

Cheers

The oil seals are the rubber 'O' rings that fit around the end of the couplers.

I looked in to making my own on my fabia VRS but decided it would cost too much and actually easier and more cost effective to buy a kit already produced. However, big respect to you for doing it:thumbup:

Did your set come with couplers attached?

The couplers came with the kit and possibly could be purchased separately. They are attached with a jubilee clip to the silicone hose and clipped with the OE circlip to the intercooler etc
