Logging for poor mpg

Featured Replies

Hi All

Ive been trying to improve my fuel economy from a poor 35mpg (PD105, town heavy, combined driving) by the usual maintenance of filters changed, tyres pressured, oil serviced etc and not got very far.

Im now wondering if there is anything i can view/log using my VCDS at all?

Any ideas would be much appreciated

I'm in the same boat. Will be very interested in replies.

I'm wondering if the MAF is next to check?

If you have full version of VCDS you can...

In 3rd gear log a single 100% full throttle drive from 1400RPM to the red line (in total around 6 seconds at 100% throttle).

For this log you must select the following channels.

1) MAF specified and MAF actual

2) Pressure specified and pressure actual

3) Any channel which records throttle position (just to proove it's at 100%)

Post the raw data here and I'll have a look.

Andrew

Thanks Andrew, that's very helpful.

VCDS arrived today, just have to install Windows  in Bootcamp on my Macbook and I'll give it a go, although I have a DSG gearbox, so we'll see how close I can get to the red line.
