front end squek in wet conditions?

Featured Replies

hi all, any help is much appreciated, car runs and drives lovely but in wet weather or after a good wash there is a squeak coming from the front end of the car?!

i had the anti roll bar slackened off and greased up but made no change, when i accelerate and let off are times it squeeks almost as if its when the engine is rocking back and forth.

could it be an enhine mount problem??

cheers guys ;)

its a fabia vrs on an 04 plate

Dogbone mount or NS engine mount. Also as it only does it on wet conditions, wishbone bushes are possible.

Mine does that too when it gets wet out.

It's really annoying because it makes the car sound like an old banger.

I'm not sure if it is the dogbone mount because that is well covered

and wouldn't get wet even in the peeing rain. (I don't think)

Haven't got a clue what does make it happen though.

I'll be keeping an eye on your thread for any more ideas people have.

had the same with my vrs. Fairly common (I think) problem and indicates front console bushes need replacing.Had mine done last week squeak has now gone. Cost £138 at a german car specialist. The local skoda garage quoted £350! The garage were fairly impressed that i had not needed the OEM bushes changed before bearing in mind i've just sailed past 90,000 miles.

Took the opportunity of fitting the uprated bushes from the ibiza cupra - ride is a little more lumpy, but the car feels great to drive.

I think the squeaking is a result of water getting in between the bush and the housing.

Oh and get it changed fairly soon. Mine started squeaking in the wet especially over speedbumps/pot holes, and occasionally when braking and changing gear. 2 weeks later the front left bush failed! Not something i would recommend if avoidable!
