Paint Problem?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just a rreally quick question to any experience car owner / car painter / detailer out there. I was cleaning my car and wazing it yesterday and notice two or what looks like scratch near the roof rail, however I have never put anything near the roof, so it would be impossible to have scratched them. The scratch feels like it isn't very deep, however I am just wondering whether it could be the paint going bad already?

I have attached a photo which may not show it quite well. I don't think it's possible to have stone flying that high up? The snake/worm like shape also conduses me, its about 2-3 cm in length.

Also attached ia photo of my yeti!

Thanks!!

Hi,

difficult to tell but I think something has scratched it; could be anything from a bird strike, cat, branch etc. Living outside a car is subject to all sorts of hazards often unbeknown to the owner, particularly parked up :o

Scratches and defects in paint are really difficult to capture with a camera, but it looks like a small scratch to me as well from the pic.

You could have a word with the dealer and see what they say and if you need to sort it yourself, then a little Meguiars Scratch X may well get the worst of that out. Apply a good wax after though and don't go mad with the scracth x as it cuts paint back a little.

Thanks, will give that a try, I am usin Meguiar wax and it does a brilliant job if anyone's interested! I ust find it a little strange that the scratch isn't straight, but wiggly, as long as its not a paint defect then I am happy.

I guess it's too easy for a stone or something to bounce up and do that, unknown to you. As long as it is not deep enough to pose a potential problem later, I would say -" hey, the Yeti is for using - this is mojo picked up honourably in the course of its life, and is one of the things that makes it mine!"
