Hi all!

Hi all. Just joined after browsing on and off for years and thought I'd say hi!

After years of wanting an Octy, but always settling for second best when buying a car (and regretting it afterwards!), I'm finally about to take the plunge and buy a second hand TDI.

Had an X reg 2.0 GLS for a few months a few years ago and loved it to bits, but moving 70 miles from work meant it was not cost effective. I should have bought a TDI then, but found them few and far between and settled for a Mondeo. Doh!

Now, I'm back in the market and still doing 35k miles (90% motorway) a year am definitely getting an Octavia TDI hatchback. Have my eye on a 55 plate 2.0 Sport and a 54 plate 2.0 Elegance at local dealers. The money I have to play with means both have done 70k+ miles. Am I asking for trouble buying in at this kind of mileage? I would hope to get 2-3 years driving pleasure out of the car.

All advice greatfully received.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome :) I would not worry about high mileage, just check the service history.

Thanks for the welcome all.

Well I took the plunge and bought the TDI Elegance after negotiation a great deal with Garlands in Aldershot. Now just can't wait to pick it up on monday!
