Clicking noise from right front wheel

Featured Replies

I get a clicking/tapping noise from the front right wheel when I accelerate at low speed, turning right. It's especially noticeable when going from level to uphill and only happens with a decent amount of lock on (i.e. not just veering right).

My car has done over 90k now, mostly on rough and bumpy Peak District roads, so it wouldn't surprise me if something is worn or out of alignment. I'll get the car checked out when I get a chance but can anyone suggest what might be going on?

Thanks

outer cv joint worn

  • 1 year later...

Is it definitely the outer CV joint....or most likely culprit? Easy to replace by an amateur? How soon should I attend to it....

Apologies for hijack...but I figured this helps keep things neater on the forum than starting a new thread....

It stays the same loudness regardless of whether I'm going straight or turning...seems to get higher pitched with increased speeds. If the CV gaiter was bust, wouldn't the clicking come on full lock?
