Coolant warning came on

Featured Replies

Started car up in garage and a high pitch warning came on, it was the coolant one, well the level has never gone down since we bought it 5 years ago and the expansion tank was empty. Looked on garage floor and no puddles etc, topped it up and light/noise went out, drove to Skoda Eastbourne looking all the time for something but all was well. They were very good in seeing me straight away and took it in for a pressure test which showed all is well but with the comment keep eye on it as it could be gasket ecg and something. Done further 30 miles and it has not gone down so will check again in the morning. Has anyone had this problem?.

My 2.0 FSi starting doing the same thing after a couple of years of ownership. Again, can't find anything wrong. I've just learned to keep an eye on the level every few days.

Someone I know with a one year old 1.9pd engine had a similar problem. The water level dropped again after a couple weeks. The dealer replaced a weeping water pump.

 +1

Same thing happened to mate of mine - replaced water pump and the cambelt because it was contaminated with coolant.
