Columbus questions

Featured Replies

I have a MY11 Superb with Columbus. I've been searching in vain for some answers but no success so far.

How do I display my model, firmware etc.

The DVD in motion trick doesn't work on my model, I presume because it's the newest version.

I want to connect external headrest monitors to the Columbus. Does anyone have any idea of leads, or the connections on the rear of the unit?? Photos would be great.

What size and type of memory card can this version accept?

Anyone already got rear screens set up already?

You cant without first having the option enabled using VCDS and then once thats done you press and hold setup until the second hidden menu appears (not the one with 3 options) and then you can from the second hidden menu display the version data.

Correct, that hack no longer works on the new units. The TV in motion devices also no longer work with the new units.

Yes you can, on the back there is a special connector that allows you to get video out to external monitors, and these monitors work even when the car is in motion.

32GB

Thanks for the quick response. You're either in possession of the right info or far better with google!!

Whats best way to get hold of VCDS? Is this the same as VAG COM?

Is the adaptor not available in the UK? Is it possible to connect it without disconnecting the HU and getting into any code problems?

Does the card reader take the high capacity cards?

VCDS is the newer name for VAG-COM, changed because of VAG copyright on the name.

There is a list of UK retailers on the RossTech site.

If you just want a quick change making in VCDS, there is a list of Briskoda members who would do it for beer money in the VCDS section.

Or if you are feeling a bit more adventurous and don't mind pulling the surround off you can remove the unit from the dash and the factory installed hardware and firmware will be shown on a sticker attached to the unit.

Anyone got any pics of the trim removed? Where to pull and which direction? :wonder:

Give the trim a gentle pull by placing your fingers underneath, just above the ashtray. It will pop off at the bottom quite easily. Then use a trim removal tool, plastic spatula or something similar to prise the trim off around the edge. It comes off easily, and in one big piece. Then just unscrew the Columbus and slide out. The trim goes back on easily by gently pressing it back on.

Anyone on here have rear or external monitors connected?
