Has anyone ever fitted LPG to their vRS? How does it drive / perform afterwards? Was it expensive to do?

Thanks!

Thanks for the replies! I tried searching for LPG but no results were returned by the search!

Hello, I've had my VRS converted for around 6 months now and have done 10,000+ miles without any problems. The family business is LPG and we've converted 2 more VRS's, and a couple of cupras (one being a R).

They all work really good on gas, the 1.8T AUQ engine is excellent for gas due to the hardened valves. Just make sure whoever installs it is LPGA approved and uses the most powerfullest kit they have.

As for performance, it won't be as fast as super unleaded but a properly running setup will be just as good as petrol. Perhaps a slight decrease, but you won't notice it.

One of our customers had a A4 1.8 (standard) converted at 80,000 miles its now on 220,000 miles and he hasn't had no problems. My A3 1.8 (standard) done around 20k on gas before I sold it, without a single problem.

Not entirely true about being lower power on lpg, if the tuner tunes it for LPG it is possible to advance the timing more and get more power. BUT generally it is better to have the remap for superUL and have the ODB ECU for the gas that takes all its signals from the ECU, that way any changes are made to the car/map and the Gas ecu learns what it should be doing at any given point. The Egas system on mine is very much a "fit and forget" kind of system. The only time you know you are driving on gas is when you go to fill up :D and you don't leave the garage feeling like you've been mugged :D

I have just completed 40K on mine with no issues.

An added extra "benefit" is the extra weight at the back helps to improve the handling of the Octy a little bit :D
