Fabia VRS Fuel Filter Replacement

Featured Replies

As above.

When replacing the fuel filter on a fabia vrs is it neccesary to relieve the pressure in the fuel injection system first?

nope

:)

just take out old one and stick new one in

prime the car about 10 times by turning the ignition on and off, then crank till it starts

easy peasy

done it. Dead easy.

Just a pointer though that the new filter comes with two new 'O' rings to fit to the plastic plug that slots into the hole in the top of the filter.

I didn't notice these until I was about to throw the box away.

The spring hose clips are a bit fiddly, I used a small pair of pliers to move them back along the hoses.

Watch out for spillages - the old filter holds about half a pint. I tipped mine into an oil catcher I use when doing the oil change. It's also worth putting newspaper or cardbord down underneath the car and around the front to catch any stray drips.

hey ill be doing this at the weekend along with everything else. so i just pull the hoses off the top of the filter and replace? followed by priming etc, is it that simple?

Yep. It's a piece-of-p*ss

Make sure you get the right fuel filter - apparently one model is longer than the other. Lift out yor old one (push back three plastic clips on the top circumference) and the code is written on the side.

Just received my fuel filter from vwspares (a UFI filter).

It didn't come with any spare o-rings as mentioned in the post above. Are these a must change item, or is just that some filters come with them incase they need changing or is just best-practice??

Emailed vwspares to ask if they were just missing from the box but no reply (pretty poor customer service!)

Thanks

Andy

Tbh it should be okay without the o new rings, depending on the interval as they dont deteriote too badly in most cases.

yeah, was thinking the same thing, just frustrating when some brands of filter don't come with the appropriate o-rings, seals or gaskets to do the job properly.

Will soon find out how fit for purpose the current ones are..........!

Cheers

Andy

Unclip hoses

Remove old filter

Drain all fuel

Put fuel into new filter

Fit new filter

Turn the ignition on a few times

Then you're ready to go :)
