Now before you tell me to use the "Search" facility - I promise that I did

It's just that there were numerous conflicting threads and some telling me one thing and others warning me of something else.

So I thought I'd start again.

OK, I have Octy vRS on variable servicing.

How can I find out how many miles there are until the next service is due?

My MOT is due in 4 weeks time and wouldn't mind doing the whole lot together, however although I've been expecting the service warning for a while....nothing.

My search said to:

Hold in mileage reset button and switch on ignition.

Sounds fine, but then another thread said doing that puts the car into fixed servicing mode :-/

Others said as soon as they did this it popped up immediately saying "Service".

So what is the correct method for me finding out how many miles it is until my next variable service without putting it into fixed servicing mode?

From a response to when I asked the question:

1. Run the engine

2. Switch off the ignition one 'click' only (not two clicks to where you would remove the key).

3. Press and hold the trip meter button until the display changes from the 'mileage' usually shown.

4. The display will then show the miles and days due to the next service/inspection.

5. Remove the key and display reverts to normal.

Worked for me ...
