how to remove drivers door lock?

Featured Replies

I've been suffering from the all too common central locking problems and for months now have been using the key in the drivers door to lock and unlock everything. A few days ago the lock decided that it wouldn't let me turn the key counterclockwise to lock the doors, it just won;t turen (clockwise to unlock still works).

After reading various posts on here and elsewhere I thought I'd try stripping down the door to check the window reg connector and remove the lock mechanism to check for cracked solder joints etc but I can't remove the lock barrel. Haynes and others say that I need to undo two screws through holes in the back edge of the door but I've only got one hole!

I've tried undoing the screw/bolt through the hole with a T20 torx bit and this has enabled me to turn the key counter clockwise (without locking the door) but it just keeps turning now without doing anything and it won't let me pull the barrel out of the door.

is there another bolt I need to remove / undo somewhere or am I doing something wrong. I've got a lock repair kit ready to fit as I'm guessing something's broken somewhere but I can't get the barrel out of the door.

Has anyone got any hints, tips or words of wisdom

Thanks, Martin

Whoops, I'm near Telford in Shropshire (updated my profile now)

Now the car won't start either! immobiliser light is going out as usual, messing with the wiring in the door wouldn't effect anything would it? probably just flattened the battery with all the locking, unlocking, windows up, windows down etc. I'll whack it on charge and see what happens.
