Hi from a new vRS owner!

Featured Replies

Hello fellow members. Here' s the story...

So, after selling our 2004 Vectra SRi [150bhp] for £3.5k (getting fed up with modern diesel issues :punch: ), my wife and I bought a 2004 Octavia vRS.

We had bought an Accord, but it was a little slow, and the saloon boot was annoying my wife (we have a 1 y/o).

With the Octavia we have a good boot, and plenty of poke, and although it's only been a day, we're well happy.

I was directed to this forum from Detailing World, so you now have a new vRS owner from Northern Ireland (who likes clean, swirl-free cars) in your midst

Welcome Aboard!

Nope. 'ardandy' and 'somouk' were the culprits!

P.S. "Tom" isn't my name btw. 'tomah' is a nickname I used to get, so I just use it on forums ;)

Hi and welcome aboard.

How does the Octy compare to Vectra ?

How does the Octy compare to Vectra ?

On most points it's better.

The SRi seats in the Vectra were very comfortable, the cruise control was handy, it had a good armrest, and the fuel economy was very good, and it had some nice touches (like the red light shining on the gear stick at night).

However, the handling, quality of various interior instruments, power, and overall look of the car is much better on the vRS.

I'm also hoping the reliability is better. The Vectra cost us a small fortune in under 18 months and 20k of driving. Broken springs, expensive filters, swirl flap issues, egr problems, etc, etc... horrible for someone who doesn't thrash his cars.
