Hi, can anyone tell me the size of the tool required to remove the inspection plug for checking the gearbox oil level on a 2001 Fabia 1.9TDi? Its basically a large hex key (Allen key). Also any suggestions on where to get one? Any info appreciated.

Having done that I found this topic and although the first clicky link doesn't work any more there's a later link to a Tooled-up page showing a Draper one which initially appeared to be the tool required - though it's not a hex as your post suggests. So I then looked at others at that site and this one might be the one - it's a 17mm hex. So that using another Google search eventually led to this thread - can anyone else confirm?

Many thanks DRJ I think that's the one, I'll double check the internal dimensions of the plug. You are right about Briskoda's search function, very frustrating, I'll use your tip in future.

I'm pretty sure it is a 17mm hex, i got one out of halfrauds when doing the oil on my MK1 golfs box....

If it's a large hex then it's 17mm. There is another type which is a security spline drive.
