Bluetooth and iPhone 4

Featured Replies

I've found that if I'm not actually playing something when I select "Media" from the Bolero, it tells me there is no media.

This means I have to play something from the iPod before I press it, at which point it duly goes to the BT Audio tab and plays the music from the phone fine. Bit of a pain, but repeatable so I guess that's just how it is.

However, a couple of things:

1. The Play, Next and Previous buttons are not available (greyed out) on the Bolero

2. There is no way to change to the next track using the steering wheel controls either

The odd thing is, I saw the play, Next and Previous buttons light up twice, but hey haven't done it since. I think "Flakey" is the technical term here

I have to assume it's the iPhone software (4.1) that is at fault since there are many people complaining about the BT implementation on the iPhone but wondered if others with an iPhone 4 running 4.1 could confirm their findings please?

I have an iPad which is still on the old 3.2 software and have all the same problems as you ie the controls are blanked out and it is a pain in the backside sinario of trying to get it to work in the first place. I have been looking on iTunes every other day waiting for the new software to come out hoping that it will work much better with 4.2.

When I have been able to get it connected though I have been pleasantly surprised how good it sounds.

I would like to know if with the iPhone you can get it to play music and act as a phone with one connection, ie take a call then seamlessly go back to Bluetooth music. If you can and the buttons start working I think I will have to save up for an iPhone.

I use an iPhone 4. I never switch the engine on until the iPhone has bluetooth running.

Then I get the Boing.

After that, after a few seconds when I start playing whatever I want (usually audiobooks) the BT button darkens and I can press it to select the audio feed from my phone.

As noted, the quality is excellent (I would say superb, but I am driving a yeti lol).

If I make a call using the phone controls or voice controls, or a call comes in, the audiobook volume level lowers and it is paused and the call runs. At the end, the audio ramps back up where it was (I am not sure, but I think it rewinds a second or two in the process).

I have never seen the track lights darken for use - but have never looked for them so cannot safely comment.

Overall, my iPhone on Yeti BT does exactly what I want. Maybe I should try the iPad too!

I have an iphone 4 with 4.1 software loaded.

I can't get BT audio to work on my Jan 2010 Yeti. The BT audio tab on Bolero is greyed but I don't know whether it's something I'm doing or not doing with my iphone or whether it's the version of software on my Bolero.

Have you paired the audio separately? You have to enable in on the maxidot.

I'm not sure that's correct. If I try to pair the audio separately it just says it can't find a media player.

However, if you play your music first on the phone and select the SKODA_BT option for playback, then press the Media button whilst the music is playing, it plays through the Bolero correctly.

Buttons are still greyed out on the the Bolero so track changing and Play/Pause has to be done through the phone, but it does work.

My assumption is that Apple are a bit cr4p at implementing BT in their phones so when 4.2 comes out (any day now) let's see if things change

The other thing we couldn't change was the First, Last name listing. It just tells you it can't load the PhoneBook, even though it already has. Also can't update the phone book through the MFD

In my Superb (with the Columbus) I can only control the phone on the phone and not through the columbus when playing with bluetooth. Works great with Spotify though.

I've got the TomTom App on my iPhone 4, unfortunately if you pair the phone with the Yeti you lose the voice directions. Looks like you can have phone or TomTom but not both.

Voice directions play fine on mine, as long as I've played something and then selected "Media" the phones A2DP output is sent to the SKODA_BT unit., although I haven't taken a call in the middle of a journey yet.

It looks like it will all work fine though.

Have just been on the apple web site it says os 4.2 is here, off to update my iPad. Hope the buttons light up on the bolaro when installed.

New os 4.2.1 installed on iPad still no support for the audio controls on bolero.

I'm new to iphone. Howdo you do this - select SKODA_BT for playback?

Thanks

Does any other phone "light up" the buttons for audio use?

Pair your phone with the Skoda (the password is 1234)

Both the Skoda and the device will need to be in "Discoverable " or "Visible" mode. SO on the iPhone, just open the Bluetooth setting and then ask the Skoda to find a new user.

Once that's done you should be able to play the music through the bluetooth connection. On an iPhone, the symbol to switch outputs is in the bottom right corenr of the iPod screen.

once it's playing, select the Media button on the Bolero.

That should be it
