Changing a temp sensor

Featured Replies

Hello,

Going to be changing the temp sesor in my car (AUQ MK1 vRS).

Just wondering, do I need to disconnect the battery and drain some coolant before doing so.

Or is it ok to just top up what spilt?

Also, if I do need to drain, where is the coolant drian plug? Bottom of the radiator?

Thanks in advance.

No need to disconnect the battery or drain coolant. Just have the new CTS with o ring fitted ready to quickly put in when you remove the old one. Keep the header tank cap on as you'll lose less coolant.

Also make sure you do it on a STONE COLD engine, ideally 1st thing in the morning - the coolant stays hot for a lot longer than you would think!
