driver's door central locking failed

Featured Replies

Hi Y'all,

Been a while since I've been on here as our Octy has been behaving itself for months now.

HOWEVER... our central locking on the driver's door has recently packed up.

Everything else works, windows, all the other doors, boot lock etc all fine.

SO I was wondering if anyone knew of a howto thread for replacing the lock gubbins cause I figure it just needs a new motor on that side.

Had a search around this site and google but couldn't find anything for the octavia. I figure it's probably the same as the Golf, and I've done the locks on one of those a couple of times, but I don't want to take the whole thing apart to find it's all different!

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

All the best

Louis

this may or may not help, but mine failed recently - i pondered how much it would cost for a month or so, then found that the connector in the door was corroded, also fixed the mirror not heating too. I just cleaned it up with contact cleaner, and put back together...

Thanks for posting those instructions. I've just purchased a Mk I to find that the central locking on the drivers side doesn't work (but does on all other sides), the drivers side electric mirror don't work (passenger side does) and one of the rear windows cannot be controlled from the drivers panel.

I suspect that there is one single fault causing all 3 problems, just need to take the door panel off and investigate I guess!
