FM transmitter advice please

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am looking for an FM transmitter device that has the following functions:

1. gets power from cigar lighter socket

2. charges phone (HTC - mini USB possibly?)

3. lets me make & receive calls through the car stereo ( please note, I would use the phone to dial etc, just want the sound through the car speakers)

4. Can play the music from my phone memory

I have been looking around the 'net and am a bit confused as most seem to be MP3 or ipod ones, but don't always mention mobile phone connectivity, unless its bluetooth which I don't want to use.

Any advice would be great.

P.S. I am not going to change the standard stereo.

They should all work fine for playing music from the phone assuming your phone has a 3.5mm jack for the headphones (or an adaptor).

The handsfree part will depend on how good the microphone is on the phone for picking up your voice, but you will stand a serious chance of echoing as the phone doesn't know it's on a handsfree kit so may well echo the sound from the car speakers back through the mic...

Charging will depend on if there is an adapter from the transmitter to your power input, they are really meant for mp3 players so you may be out of luck on that...

I guess feedback could be a problem, hadn't thought of that. I think I'm gonna take the plunge and buy one for £10 - £15 - If it doesn't work well at least it won't cost too much.

I will look for one with a USB out for charging too.

Thanks for your help

Get a Denison wired FM modulator really cheap on ebay cost me £35 to have it professionally fitted. I bought a brand new one but 2nd hand are really cheap. Really good quality sound.
