Day Running Lights

Featured Replies

I have recently got a Octavia Elegance TDI (Face-lift) 2009 reg, I have been told that I have day running lights in the fog lights, but I am unable to activate them. I would be grateful if anyone can inform me how to activate them. I have tried everything in the handbook .

Got to be coded via VCDS I think - unless anyone knows any different? Do you have maxi dot? As you can turn mine on and off via that

If the option to turn them on or off isn't visible in maxidot or the procedure using the indicator stalk doesn't work (no maxidot) then they need activating by your dealer or a friendly member with VCDS.

Once activated you will either:

1) see the option in maxidot, or,

2) be able to follow the procedure detailed in the manual using the indicator stalk.

The reason they don't leave the factory activated is because the legislation behind them won't come in to force until next year.

Also the dealers are a bit hit and miss, some seem able and willing to activate them, some don't...

Good luck

Thanks for the reply, but I have no idea if I have a maxi dot. How do I find out and if I have one how do I access activation setup.

Maxidot is the type of display you have inbetween your speedo and rev counter.

It provides increased access to many of the cars settings and also provides more advanced images (door open, washer fluid low etc.)

Non maxidot featured cars just have a normal light to show these and other warnings.

Check out this thread for more info on DRL activation:
