1.8Tsi Notchy Gearbox ?

Featured Replies

This could just be me but the Gearbox on my 1.8Tsi Scout feels a bit notchy especially in 1st and 2nd gear.

Whats yours like ?

I've had no problems at all with mine. Very smooth in all gears.

Same here, all good. Thought on cold mornings it takes a few minutes to wake it up properly.

Ta. It may be nothing. It's going in on Friday i'll ask 'them' to have a look.

No Gear box is fine and clutch is very benign. The only slight issue I have is that it doesn't like to be taken out of reverse whilst still moving for a quick direction change.

When i took mine in for the boot to be repaired yesturday i asked them to look at the gear change as mine when its cold can crunch when going into 2nd & can be sluggish to go into 2nd gear, they said there was a problem & there is a tsb from skoda to replace the gearbox oil with a improved version but this doesnt apply to my model! (this may apply to yours?) they are now awaiting skodas decision on what to do next.

I had a graunchy third gear and the dealer changed the oil but predictably it made no difference as both the technician and I knew it was a synchro problem, so a week later I got a brand new gearbox. Sweet as a nut now :-)
