Playstation 2 on the blink

Featured Replies

Thought tonight I would get my slimline PS2 out and have a play at some older games. It hasn't been used a huge ammount since I bought it and worked fine about 4 weeks ago when I last had it out for an evening.

Tonight it decides that it won't play any PS2 disc that I wanted to play. Tried 5 game discs in all and even our Finding Nemo DVD and none would play. It would recognise it was a PS2 disc but said no data.

Anyone got an idea to fix it or is it fixable? Worth fixing even?

Try a lens cleaner disk, thats helped me out in the past.

If not, just have a look on ebay for a replacement laser, last time i looked (years ago) they were dirt cheap.

Perfect excuse to go and get a PS3, GT5 and F1 2010

Except that the games he was trying to play, still wont play on the PS3, as the newer ones have no backwards compatibility

Well shortly after I tried it again and stood the console up and it started working. So looking like maybe a good lens clean and disc clean I think.

Thanks for the replies.
