I am attaching a digital camera picture to this post, its not great quality but may help.

Its certainly been in the wars but i can make out the diagram :giggle:

Thanks again

Nice one matey! Glad you got some info, I know how much the flippy mirror hacked you off! looking forward to seeing it fitted. Get someone to follow you round with their main beam on so you get the use out of it. :D

Plenty of **** heads out on the roads at the moment who can oblige :dull:

I'll have a crack at it this weekend - weather permitting of course.

My car has auto dimming on all mirrors, maybe there lies the difference. I have tested mine and the sensors in the roof do control the mirrors of that there is no doubt.

I have to, and if I point a light directly to the sensor on the mirror (next to the green light), all mirrors dim.

If it's anything like our weather today you would need all your stuff on to be out there working on it today. We are actually snowed in

Re the roof sensors controlling the mirrors, I can guarantee you that they're for the alarm, the only thing that has direct influence on the dimming mirror system is the small photocell located in the housing of the mirror itself. Maybe when you shine a torch at it, it is reflecting off and hitting the photocell, remember it only needs a tiny amount of light, for a very short time to trigger it.

Thanks for another superb good thread

Somebody knows if the rearview mirror of a Golf or Passat etc etc or an Audi is compatible with the skoda one? I still find the Superb mirror at least 25% too wide/large for it`s purpose; providing a rearview through the rearwindow. I don`t need too see parts of the interior as well when using the mirror. This would not have been an issue if I didN\t find the mirror taking up too much space of my field of vision through the frontscreen window.

My point:

If the mirror of one of the other VAG group cars is compatible with the Superb mounting and wiring, and at the same time is smaller in size, I would be compelled to switch mirrors.

Great info on the method of detachting the mirror by the way!

I'm not sure if it the same on the Superb as with the Yeti but there is a difference in the height that the mirror is mounted on the glass depending on if you have a light sensor or not. And some people find that sans the sensor the mirror is awfully low and creates a huge forward blindspot to your left (in a RHD car). See this thread point number 1:

I would heed caution when attempting to remove the auto dimming mirror.

The manual mirror simply pops off the ball joint that protrudes back from the winsdcreen mounted rain and light sensor.

The auto dimming mirror has a cable running into it via the 6 pin connector right at the back of it. If you attempt to pull it off the ball joint you could put too much strain on the wiring and connector potentially damaging something.

If removing an auto dimming mirror i would suggest unclipping the two piece plastic trim which exposes the rain sensor innards. Then you can simply unclip the entire bracket from the bonded rain sensor complete with mirror and mounting arm.

When ordering the auto dimming mirror it comes complete with the mounting arm which suggests to me they cannot be separated.

I'll attempt the retrofit over the Christmas break once (if) the weather improves.

Most of these mirrors are fairly generic and I would bet they are all of similar size across the VAG empire.

Have you managed to fit it yet?

The mirror has been fitted.............................

...............But not wired yet emoticon-0124-worried.gif

Work has been crazy and i've not had the chance yet.

I've got a nice shiny set of Pioneer component speakers sitting on the cooker waiting to be fitted but haven't got the time at the moment. Maybe this weekend.

The mirror itself is a five minute job to mount on the bracket, the wiring is obviously a bit more complex but I will get it done as soon as I get the chance.

Did you ever get the mirror wired and working?
