Canon Lense problem

Featured Replies

I have an issue with my Canon lens, It started coming up with a connection error between camera & lens. I found that it only happens between 17mm & 34, the rest of the range is okay......has anyone ever experienced this? I wonder if it's expensive to repair.

What lens is it? I had my 17-55 stripped down, AF repaired and a new IS mechanism installed for a total of £220. So depending on the lens fixing the focussing shouldn't be that expensive?

Hmmmm, what model camera/lense is it? Some of the Canon SLR's have seen this problem, due to issues with the contacts where the lense attaches (especially on EF-S lenses, apparently. Do a search on DPreview for info), but if it's at one zoom setting, it can be the aperture blade sticking in the lense, from what I've read.

Hope it's not a common thing, as I have the same lense!

Good luck with sorting it.

If it's just a flex cable then it should be quite cheap to fix? It's not a massive part to replace, and shouldn't need a total strip down hopefully.

I would have thought so myself BUT on the links mentioned above I was thinking twice about it....126515790.rDvjEvaT.IMG_0170.JPG

Looks like it could be tricky to solder the new cable on....I might get a cost on fixing first.
