There's a recent topic discussing sealants - check out my recommendation on there...

You should be able to leave the car for a week or two without a problem. I certainly seem to have better luck with batteries than most people. My 2004vRS swapped recently hadn't had to have a new battery and there's nothing wrong with the 2007's as far as I can tell. My 1997 Bandit recently traded in was on its original battery too. I haven't sussed the reason for the jacket around the later cars' batteries - but following your report I'll probably go for a like-for-like replacement if and when the time comes.

The jacket insulates the battery from extremes of temperature to make it last longer.

PS: Not wanting to be rude, but could you try to lose the text speak?

ok i will try and lose my text chat dad although am probably older then you fella, your right though too much texting not enough on the forums, thank you anyways seen the door sill video on you tube going give it a go looks easy enough.

going flip a coin and choose a sealant.

Hi again Tony,

I changed my battery fairly recently for one of these. ----> http://www.tayna.co.uk/Type-096-Varta-Silver-Dynamic-Car-Battery-P3197.html

Fits the battery tray and cover perfectly.

No problems to report and it turns over the car like a mo fo. :D

It's more powerful than the standard battery and a sensible price.

With a 5 year guarantee to boot.

And I recommend using roof/gutter sealant for the doors. Did mine in the late summer and

have had no leaks and misting since. I used shell tixophalte but its very hard to get hold of.

1 tube is plenty for all 4 doors if necessary. Any bituminous based sealant should do though.

cool cool but got battery bigger then original on the 06 the plastic cover different i noticed and not totally incased, it fits the plastic case and tray but the original jacket wont fit around bigger battery , but it was my mate doing it maybe i have another look,

roof gutter sealant seems the most used so i give it a go.

just pulled out the pollen filter hey hey am a mechanic lol dirty as my ex but not wet or damp.

thank you lads

Wouldn't worry about the jacket too much. If you are older than me, you'll know that cars didn't used to have them.

For what it's worth, I'm 40- don't know if that makes me your dad or not :giggle: .

Briskoda generally isn't a place for text speak, it makes it easier to read and help people.
