central locking query

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Recently baught an octavia,it wont lock with the key fob unless you are standing beside the car and at the fronth same story for opening it,i'd imagine that it should work from at least 20ft away.Have replaced the battery but that made no difference so im thinking it must be something to do with the reciver in the car which im guessing is the little black thing in the middle of the dash???

Thanks for any ideas

..........FAZER........

The black thing you mention is a sunlight loading sensor for the climatronic system. The fob should work from quite a way off when operating normally.

Have you tried the other fob? the one you are using could be duff or on the way out.

If you've changed the battery it's most likely the fob is misbehaving, it's the next cheapest thing to change, if you start messing with the receiver in the car it'll get expensive.

Fobs often lead a hard life.

Thanks for that, going to have a look on the net for a new fob and hopefully my problems will end their.

Maybe re-synchronising your remote control would solve the issue? Its on page 44 of the Octavia Manual
