When driving along i sometimes get a knocking noise when i go over a bump in the road. Has anyone else experienced this? It sounds like the spare wheel is knocking in the well but it is fully secure. There is nothing else in the boot so i am thinking that there is maybe something inside the hatch itself unless it is a problem underneath the car.

Would be good if someone is having/already had this issue as it is very difficult to diagnose!

Funny you should raise this - I have exactly the same problem; but it's intermittent. I've checked what's in the boot; under the car, etc. Almost given up now as it is so intermittent. I too would be interested if anyone else has noticed this.

Try driving around 50Km/h than let the car decelerate to around 20Km/h about when the DSG shifts into second gear, than press the accelerator gently. Try doing it a few times, decelerate than accelerate. Do you hear the knocking? If yes, than most likely what you hear is your gearbox. It should be normal.

Mine btw does that too, however I wouldn't describe it a knocking, more like clicking.

Correct - DSG here. And having looked at the link that would seem to be it; and only noticeable as you say when there's no other sounds about. Thanks.
