Another question from me DSG or 4X4 on the Elegance TDI 170?

Featured Replies

You can now order the 170 4x4 with DSG.

So no dilemma as you can now order both! ;)

Are you sure, I thought it was only the CR140 at present?

No, just going on what I was told by dealer, so they could be wrong. Didn't matter for me in the end as I was put off by long wait for a new order so I'm getting an existing 170 4x4 from stock.

Is there any physical difference in 140 and 170 engines?? If not, a quick remap should turn a 140 into a 170.

Cheers

Yes. There is a bigger turbo on the 170 and the physical torgue limit is a little larger for that engine.

170 can be remappped to 190HP and 430nm while 140 can do 170HP with 360-380NM.

Thanks for your help everyone - Finally ordered on Wednesday evening through DriveThedeal - Received a call back from the Skoda dealer they are using to inform me that they have ordered the car. Very quick and efficient.

In the end I got the following spec - Superb Elegance 4x4 170 tdi - Aqua Blue - Loud Speakers, auto dimming mirror, park assist (couldn't resist the toy), MDI interface, heated washers, spare wheel, heated front and rear seats. Didn't ask when it would arrive but I was previously told end of March.

I'm happy with that as I still have my fun little BMW 123d coupe to drive, I'm also trying to find a good breeder to get my Alaskan Malamute from(hence how the whole skoda estate adventure started)

The funny thing is , everyone that I have mentioned a Skoda too have all turned round and said they are brilliant cars, most own x5's and things like that. Some however can't get over the badge!!! We wil see when mine arrives.

Excellent choice.

I had the same choice to make. I drive 80 miles a day over the peak district.

I sit in traffic and wish I had the dsg.

I go to overtake I wish I had the dsg.

I get onto a damp moorland road, I forget about DSG, although it would be supremely nice to have, as another said, maybe the next one ;)

The superb is a big old lump and I'm happy to get traction when I want it. I also sadly help a little more to fund the country.

Really do like driving the big old thing and having just spent a weekend in the back on the way up through the highlands, a very nice place to be. Far enough back you can't see the speedo, jsut the time and mountains floating past.

Sounds alot like mine! - but why not put a heated Windscreen on it too? - It's REALLY handy...! - more so than the washers...

One month into my stewardship (4x4 CR170 ELEGANCE) and I can say it's a fantastic car. Grip is brilliant. Planting the right foot on icy and wet roads and the car traction is brilliant.

Highly recommended.

Showed it to a guy who has just sold his X5. He was very impressed. All the bells and whistles and less than 50% of the price of the BMW.

Cool, thanks for the update .

I look forward to mine arriving, order was placed on the 9th Dec, car is due to be build beginning of April with arrival in May.

The longest wait I've had for any car!! Ive ordered some nice bmer's previously but never had this kind of wait.

Still cant believe how long these are now taking to arrive... i ordered mind late feb 2010 and it was delivered before the end of april 2010!

Anyway, mine is also a 170 4x4 estate, loads of toys, and 5 (? i think ?) options ordered. - you'll love it! :) it's been great throughout the winter, but i do have winter tyres fitted...
