Nokia 5800 XpressMusic problem

Featured Replies

Recently i tried to upgrade the firmware on my Nokia 5800 from v11 to v50 so i could get Ovi maps. Unfortunately half way through flashing the new firmware the usb cable was knocked and connection was lost between computer and phone. The mobile is now, as they say, bricked! I have heard and read a small bit about custom firmware for the mobile and i would like to know if anyone on here has any experience of this or if they have any information which may help in reviving the mobile.

At the moment the phone will not boot up and is not even found by Nokia PC Suite.

Looking forward to any comments on custom firmware (Is it worth it?) and keeping my fingers crossed that it may be able to be repaired.

I ended up selling it through eBay. Thanks for the link though. Lots of good information.

Send it to a mobile recycling firm Mazooma or the like & then get a Android mobile, you won't regret dumping Nokia's Symbian OS or the Nokia brand name.

Choose an HTC or Samsung, just pick one with a flash for the camera!
