Sat Nav, Bluetooth Headunit

Featured Replies

i have recently got a mk2 Octavia and im tempted by a sat nav headunit with phone function

im after something with Sat nav, radio, cd, phone and it would be nice to have dvd/tv.

I've seen this Kenwood replacement that looks amazing but there coming in at about 1k and its just a far too steep http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/products/car/vw/DNX520VBT/

I've also seen these knock of versions that runs windows CE and I did have a read on one forum where they seemed pretty impressed I was wondering if anyone has any opinions or other possible alternatives as ive never really bought anything like this before, Similar to these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-DVD-GPS-SEAT-LEON-AlteaToledo-VW-SKODA-PASSAT-GOLF-/230549400425?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems&hash=item35add0ab69

Kenwood is ok, you can also find Zenec one:

http://www.puresounds.co.uk/product/Zenec_Skoda_-_Zenec_ZE-NC2010_Double-Din_VW_%26_Seat_DVD_Monitor_%2B_skoda-ZE-NC2010

or from Macrom (test winner)

http://fasterthansound.eu/index.php?page=shop.product_details&category_id=1&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=1632&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2&vmcchk=1&Itemid=2

The one at £360 (Merseyside) has no mps with unit.

"Please note, we do not supply the GPS software. We will advise you where to obtain it from." I hope it will work, and what is the cost and what about map / unit software updates?

The one at £329 is UK STOCK NO TAX?? No need to pay GBP100.0 customs tax or VAT charge(???) something is fishy here... the rest sounds ok.

I wish to get them all tested by independend magazine...

There are members on this forum who have these units running the gps with no problems.

Also there is nothing 'fishy about the customs or vat charges'

He buys direct from the factory in china,

As you are buying direct from him, he has already paid the charges for you.

Why do you reckon it is more reliable ?.I do not need the TV,all I'm instersted in is the sat nav and DVD,I've also liked the fact that it works with the Maxidot .... My concern is if it works on my Octavia as it's got the Audience and sound system installed ....

here's a few links I posted in Ivans topic, i think there worth a bit of a read although i've not had much chance to have an in-depth look yet

http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74855&page=270 - This is the WD6050

http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100995&highlight=gold+unit&page=92 - This one is the AS-7608

Really it would be good to know the difference between the two, including what they can and cant do and what the problems with them may be.

yeah, it's been in my vrs 4 weeks now, install took about 30 mins, no problems, everything is plug and play

what gps software did you use

what gps software did you use

That is the million dollar question....

Was supplied with tom tom and igo8, both out of date....about 5 years......

I normally use tom tom, but the navigator maps and time to get a decent signal are shocking. i think igo 8 is better than tom tom, and if i can get some up to date maps {with 7 digit postcode search} and the speed cameras, it will be perfect, because i think it has better graphics, better menus and usability, than tom tom.

I have read good reviews on sygic, but i could not get it to work with my unit, for some reason ???

I am going to trawl the internet for the latest igo, as i think its far superior to tom tom.
