That little yellow light

Featured Replies

Have had our Octy 5 years now so was surprised at the dash yellow light comeing on showing car skidding symbol.Have driven in snow etc before but never seen that light come on.

That'll be your ASR/ESP light, when it flashes it means the system is intervening to stabilise the car. If it is on constantly either the system is switched off or is faulty.

ASR steps in to prevent the front wheels from spinning up by limiting engine power to the wheels. ESP does this and also applies braking force to individual wheels when needed to reduce the chance of the car spinning.

I have a similar problem with my 05 Octavia, ASR/ESP light comes on as I try to move my car in the snow. Wheels spin and brakes applied, engine management system won't allow me to move. Car stuck in my driveway since 6.30am this morning.

Can this system be turned off?

This button does the trick.
