Wind noise

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I've got a 54reg octavia mk 2 and notice that once i'm up to 50 or more there's quite a bit of wind noise coming in from the rear windows. I gather this seems to be a fault with this particular model, but does anyone know if they ever found a cure for it. If they did'nt any advice on how to get rid of it would be appreciated. Cheers, Ian.

Lower the relevant window; insert a thin piece of wood/plastic into the vertical channel that the window slides up, on the upright between the window & the rear quarterlight window. (Use something like an old reg plate)

Carefully tap the "upright" towards the back of the car-top, middle & centre, with a mallet/hammer.

Worked for me!

same problem as me ,it seems to be common enough

I posted a fix for this a good few months if not heading for a year ago. A little bit of sealant on the back 1/3 of the rear quarter window and it's gone. You can seal from the outside or the inside - details are in the old thread with photos of the places to seal. Haven't tried the hammer trick, though several people report success with this method too.

Is this something that the dealer can sort out under warranty, e.g. fitting a new seal?

I also have this problem and hitting it with a mallet didn't work.

I ran a tiny amount of sealant into the gap between the seal and the car body around the back 1/3 of the rear quarter panel and now the only noise is the wind on the wing mirrors over 70 mph...

Did you do this on the inside or the outside?
