Gear box oil

Featured Replies

I have a 1.9 tdi awx engine. It's done 108k miles.

I tried to get some gear box oil, but the supplier was out of stock.

Spoke to the mechanic and he said don't waste your money. He advised me not to change the oil until the clutch goes. Is he correct? Opinion please

Shows you what he knows as you dont drain the oil or loose any when doing the clutch.

But there isnt an interval for changing it, but can't hurt.

I changed my gearbox oil at 60.000 miles just for piece of mind as i was not the original owner, I bought some Castrol Taf-x 75/90 grade from Opie oils. The gearbox took 2.5 ltrs and you will need a 17mm hex socket for filling and a M16 splined socket for draining.
