Dension Gateway 5

Featured Replies

Has anyone apart from blank put one of these in their octavia?

More particularly in any car with columbus?

They don't work with Skodas I'm afraid.

The Denison Ice link Wired fm emulator works, got one in my car (bolero), sounds pretty good too. Plugs directly into the ariel plug need a couple of extra wires (double fakra) see my previous post.

Have you tried one on a Skoda though?? I know that dension don't support it on a skoda as they havent tested it etc. Doesn't mean to say that it wont work. It was more of a feel to see IF anyone has tried one and what features did and didnt work (which i know might be hard as im under the impression the AUS spec skodas may not have the same HU in them)

Im really thinking on taking the plunge and buying one to see if it works and how well it works.

In theory the skodas use the BAP (AFAIK) and the HU in mine being a columbus is in fact a RNS510..

To me spending 300 bucks on that is a damn sight cheaper than forking out 600 for BT and then another 300 for a MDI!

Yes I have, and they don't work!

well,

i bought the GWF121 kit and installed it today along with a gen 5 cradle.

Relatively simple to install, although i had to take out the glovebox so i could put the fakra connection out of the way fro the columbus to fit back.

Installed the module behind the climatronic and put the microphone on the drivers side A pillar near the roof.

So far so good. The Ipod connectivity works great.

The Bluetooth is a bit hit and miss.. The sound is just fine and you can control it through the HU although i need to get VAGCOM programming done for it to work on the MFD.

But overall im pleased.

With the BT once it locked up on a phonecall but after resetting the unit seems to be working OK again. Im using a Iphone 3GS.
