rear view mirror refit

Featured Replies

Hi, can anyone out there help please? My rear view mirror cam off in my hand, the ball and socket joint between mirror and stalk. Tried brute force but no luck. I can't help thinking it is a little knack that I don't know. Someone else must have had same problem.

Thanks

I had the same problem, but also the fixing unit came off from the fixing clip on the windscreen. Can anyone advise how to:

  1. re-fix the ball and socket joint
  2. Re-fix the whole unit back on to the windscreen.

??

Cheers

To refix arm to screen put the arm up to screen at 90 degrees to normal, push against window whilst twisting through 90 degrees.

It won't feel as though its in place, but as long as it doesn't fall off, then its OK.

Mirror to arm, I don't know. But I've got a spare one in the garage so I'll have a look, but I suspect brute force is the answer.

Careful you dont crack your windscreen, quite easy to do on MK2 Octavias
