Pas warning light and key code

Featured Replies

Stealers i bought vrs from have had my car coming up to 3 weeks now, for a intermittent PAS light displaying and one of the keys not working. I purchased the car from a non skoda dealership so the garage i have sent the car back to have been using skoda to sort the problems.

Spoken to skoda this morning as it's taken my garage 14 days to tell me i have to pop down with V5 ect for skoda to order new key, while on the phone to skoda i asked what the problem with the PAS was, and the guy on service has told me it's showing on the system as being related to the key. The PAS light was coming on way before i realised the one key would not start the car, so all skoda have done is erase the codes, so do you think i'm right in thinking more than likely the PAS light will come on again.

cheers

andy

BUMP - don't know but it sounds odd doesn't it?

Been to soda to prove i'm the owner of the car, and asked for the receipt of works done by them so far.

carried out guided fault finding to code key

Unable to code key fault code present in system

Carried out further investigation, traced fault to transponder chip in key.

Will require new key

Checked&traced fault with power steering to key fault not regeistering on system.

Cleared fault codes present in steering.

cars back to them next week to have new key coded but i'm unsure on the PAS fault.

Sounds most unlikely to me.

Bump B)

I could be being naive here, but if it's just the transponder, can't they just order up one of those for about £5, and code that? Save you cutting a key, buying a new blade, fob, battery etc.

I asked this yesterday and was told they are a bitch to get out, hence they are ordering a new key. :)

If it's at your expense, I think I'd see if I could remove it myself - nothing lost if you break it! If not then. . . meh, not your money!

Ah, no worries then!emoticon-0148-yes.gif See if you can keep the old key, might be able to fix it on the cheap as a spare, or to open the doors at least.

Yeah have asked them to keep me the old unit

Maybe time to ask them exactly what the stored steering system codes where - though the Skoda garage might have not noted them down, which sounds like they are not being very professional, worth asking though. Interestingly, if things get bad you might discover that "you" are not entitled to know what is wrong as you are not paying for it, its just the curious way warranties work - even if it covers your property.

Yeah i can ask tomorrow, they where happy enough to print a copy of the invoice sent to the dealer i bought the car from, so can't see a problem with asking for the code..I have requested they check it out again when it goes in for reprogram.
