TomTom GO 710-help please!

Featured Replies

Hello,

Maybe I'm thick, but I bought a GO 710 off fleabay with no SD card. Went to TomTom.com & downloaded & installed TomTom Home; connected cable with blank SD card in device to download a map I have bought.

I continually get an error saying that TomTom's server has refused the connection?

I have uninstalled & reinstalled TomTom home with no joy. I have also reset the device.

When the device is connected & I go to My Computer, it just comes up as an empty USB storage device-there does not appear to be any info stored on the device at all? No operating files etc?

Help please!! :S

Hi VRS

What size and speed SD card are you using ?

I believe you need at least 2G and a High speed card.

When I downloaded a map a couple of years ago, I think I had to do something to the card first before it would let me load the files on, but sorry cannot remember, but phone Tomtom, they are very helpful, and will talk you through it.

Try taking the sd card out first , help page here you need to make the sd card part of the tom tom http://uk.support.to...=1&locale=en_GB

Edit ,hope this is the page you want

I would turn on first without the card, I wouldn't have bought a used one off eBay as they are assigned to someones email account and switching is a pain :S

Cheers. didn't know re assignment to email address!

Oh pants! :wall:

Yes you can do it ,found out about that as I had a faulty one years ago ,and you can only have one assigned to your email, so the replacement is on my wifes one, you can do it but it takes about a month, it is to stop people knicking them then sticking on ebay :S :giggle:
